when life gives you potatoes, play Munchkin

Back from the game lodge experience - sunburned, wind-burned, grossly overfed and generally happy. It was a lovely weekend, in excellent company, beautiful surroundings, and in accomodation with everything that opens and shuts (underfloor heating in the bathroom! I so need that!). Highlights: incredible food, white lion, stalking a rhino on foot, winerouting, freaking the game ranger with our impenetrable personal language codes and then hitting him up for astronomy pointers, amazing rock formations, Munchkin in the sun on the balcony with baby potatoes for level counters as no-one had brought dice. (All future Munchkin games will require potatoes.) Lowlights: being gassed by the carbon monoxide fumes in the Evil Landlord's car there and back; jo&stv losing the gear regulator cable in their car and having to drive back to Montague in second gear, and then back to Cape Town in fourth. Conclusion: totally worth it.

The word for the weekend was "fleshpots", courtesy of my mother. Since the three groups represented are all serious foodies and congenital over-caterers, this was severely appropriate.

This was Saturday breakfast:

This was Sunday recovering:

More photos on Flickr, in honour of which I had to acquire a gosh-darned pro account.

In other news, "Blink" won the Dramatic Presentation (short form) Hugo. So I should damned well hope.

It looks stunning, even in the cold. I wish I was in CT longer in December to have time to get to a game lodge. As it is I'm only there 2 weeks - 15-30th.

Looks wonderful. Glad you had a good time. Thnx for sharing yr photos.

& Blink was definitely one of the scarier episodes. Also one of the more confusing. Kinda 'watch it & it'll all come together, eventually' as it did.
